Midwives provide full care for you and your baby for up to 6 weeks after you give birth. Midwives usually make four postpartum visits during the first two weeks in your home, followed by two clinic visits at 4 and 6 weeks postpartum. The midwives remain on-call for you and your baby in case of an emergency. Midwives are trained to provide breastfeeding support, and will work with you and your baby the help maximize your chances of success should you chose to breastfeed.
